How do we define
life? It’s a very deep word, isn’t it? Complicated, too, but I want to compare
life to computers. Computers, for me, are devices which we use to communicate
with our loved ones, our relatives from far away lands, our classmates for assignments
and gossip, and just about anything we need done. Computers have become a part
of the lifestyle of us humans. It has evolved our way of living and our way of
communicating. Life, like a computer, has a lot of screws that need tweaking
now and then to make sure it’s stable. It has a lot of programs that we need to
undergo in order to become independent and successful. A computer has a lot of
programs that we need to study in order for us to tolerate it, and someday,
master it.
Bill Gates once said,
“It's fine
to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure." All of us quote that computers
are the best toys we could own. We get a lot of fun in meddling with its parts,
both hardware and software. We never get tired of playing with it and learning
about it. When there’s a new program, we tackle it until we practically
memorize its rules and codes. When there’s a virus, we immediately cure the
computer from it, and when we fail to do so, we try other methods to kill the
virus. It’s the same with life. We play its rules and end up happy or
disappointed. When we aren’t satisfied by the results, we do everything we can
to change them. When we fail at something, we cry over it. However, we slowly
and surely fix that failure and come back with a bang.
It takes patience to repair a
computer and a great deal of love and knowledge to fully understand it. Just
like with life: we need to wait for the right time. The incidents in life we
experience are mere tools to help us learn about life. We need to feel
different emotions to become strong and independent. We need to become wiser
and learn from our decisions. Life isn’t just a toy that we can tinker all we
want. It’s something more and if we don’t use it right and just waste it, then
what are we living for?
