Life is like a Computer

 How do we define life? It’s a very deep word, isn’t it? Complicated, too, but I want to compare life to computers. Computers, for me, are devices which we use to communicate with our loved ones, our relatives from far away lands, our classmates for assignments and gossip, and just about anything we need done. Computers have become a part of the lifestyle of us humans. It has evolved our way of living and our way of communicating. Life, like a computer, has a lot of screws that need tweaking now and then to make sure it’s stable. It has a lot of programs that we need to undergo in order to become independent and successful. A computer has a lot of programs that we need to study in order for us to tolerate it, and someday, master it.
Bill Gates once said, It's fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure." All of us quote that computers are the best toys we could own. We get a lot of fun in meddling with its parts, both hardware and software. We never get tired of playing with it and learning about it. When there’s a new program, we tackle it until we practically memorize its rules and codes. When there’s a virus, we immediately cure the computer from it, and when we fail to do so, we try other methods to kill the virus. It’s the same with life. We play its rules and end up happy or disappointed. When we aren’t satisfied by the results, we do everything we can to change them. When we fail at something, we cry over it. However, we slowly and surely fix that failure and come back with a bang.
It takes patience to repair a computer and a great deal of love and knowledge to fully understand it. Just like with life: we need to wait for the right time. The incidents in life we experience are mere tools to help us learn about life. We need to feel different emotions to become strong and independent. We need to become wiser and learn from our decisions. Life isn’t just a toy that we can tinker all we want. It’s something more and if we don’t use it right and just waste it, then what are we living for?

GOING TOO FAR

Me (center), my father and my little sister at the Manila Ocean park
Your dreams are yours alone. Nobody said you can't dream your dream. Nobody said you can't reach for it, no matter where it takes you. Following our dreams doesn't mean we're leaving behind the people we love. It just means we're another step toward success and happiness. When I was young, I wanted to be a nurse. However, as I got older, I developed a liking to the feelings and emotions of the people around me. When my father gave me a secondhand book when I was 9 years old, I loved the book so much that I started to read some more. Our school library was my constant hangout. I went there before classes, during breaks, and on occasions, after classes (this was only during my grade school years). Until now, I love books. I can't not love them.
My point being, dreams aren't just dreams. They're our inspiration to achieve greater things. They're our keys to the closed doors of our life. Reminder: when you dream, never be afraid to DREAM BIG! It's worth it in the end.

"Stand up if you wanna be a star
You better stand up if you notice who you are;
Never give up if you too far..."

Worldwide Invasion

There has been a worldwide invasion, and, no, I am not talking about aliens and whatnot. I am talking about Korean Pop (or Kpop). The rise of Korean music among the ages has made an impact on how we describe music. Korean music really has its own sense of artistry and feeling. Be it Rock, Pop, R&B, etc., I'm sure you'll love it. There isn't a kid nowadays who doesn't know what KPOP means. Their groups consisting of different aged men or women, with different personalities and backgrounds in life, add to the ever exciting feel of the music. I am proud to be a Kpop fan (not yet an addict, though).

How do you describe Kpop?

Scarred Dreams

My life was perfect and endearingly bright;
Filled with people, all good and true.
The talks we would share, and the gossips we so heard,
All took place upon places of colours in hue.

People say I am vibrant!
Shining like a beacon in the sky;
Lending hope to others, and envy to some,
But this did not stop me from aiming high.

Music and the Arts, my forte;
I studied hard and to appreciation did my self drown.
People said I was vibrant,
But this made me realize deceit and a frown.

My life was once bright;
Filled with masked people and words of lies buried deep.
From this I learned, and not in the easiest way,
Life is never fair, and it is I who will weep.

Words from Miss Jane Eyre

I absolutely loved reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte! It was really awesome how dear Jane faced those challenges in her life alone, and yet she still held her head high. She is one of society's greatest fictional women. That, I'm sure. SO, here are some words and quotes from the story which I found meaningful and inspiring.

"Think of the task you undertook -- one of incessant fatigue: where fatigue kills even the strong; and you are weak." (Diane Rivers)

"God did not give me my life to throw away; and to do as you wish me would, I begin to think, be almost equivalent to committing suicide." (Jane Eyre)

"All men of talent, whether they be men of feeling or not; whether they be zealots, or aspirants, or despots -- provided only they be sincere -- have their sublime moments: when they subdue and rule."

We know that God is everywhere; but certainly we feel His presence most when His works are on the grandest scale spread before us: and it is in the unclouded night-sky, where His worlds wheel their silent course, that we read clearest His infinitude, His omnipotence, His omnipresence.

"You are a beauty, in my eyes; and a beauty just after the desire of my heart, --- delicate and aerial." (Mr. Rochester)

I loved him very much -- more than I could trust myself to say -- more than words had power to express. (Jane Eyre)

Young ladies have a remarkable way of letting you know that they think you a "quiz", without actually saying the words. (Jane Eyre)

"Station! Station! -- your station is in my heart, and on the necks of those who would insult you, now or hereafter--- Go." (Mr. Rochester)

"Mr. Rochester, I no more assign this fate to you than grasp at it for myself. We were born to strive and endure -- you as well as I: do so. You will forget me before I forget you." (Jane Eyre)

"No, Jane," he returned: "what necessity is there to dwell on the Past, when the Present is so much surer -- the Future so much brighter?" (Mr. Rochester)

"It can never be, sir; it does not sound likely. Human beings never enjoy complete happiness in this world. I was not born for a different destiny to the rest of my species; to imagine such a lot befalling me is a fairytale -- a daydream." (Jane Eyre)

"If all the world hated you, and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved you, and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends." (Helen Burns)

"I told you I am independent, sir, as well as rich: I am my own mistress." (Jane Eyre)

"All the melody on earth is concentrated in my Jane's tongue to my ear (I am glad it is not naturally a silent one): all the sunshine I can feel is in her presence." (Mr. Rochester)

"I could decide if I were but certain," I answered: "were I but convinced that it is God's will I should marry you, I could vow to marry you here and now -- come afterwards what would!" (Jane Eyre)

I know what it is to live entirely for and with what I love best on earth. I hold myself supremely blest -- blest beyond what language can express; because I am my husband's life as fully as he is mine. (Jane Eyre)

"Ah! You are afraid of yourself," he said, curling his lip. (St. John Rivers)

"All said I was wicked, and perhaps I might be so." (Jane Eyre)

There are more but these are the ones which have touched my heart and are imprinted in my heart. I hope you read Jane Eyre and experience the same joy and thrill I did when I read it. :)
